Is an Educational Psychologist the right choice for my child?
A school psychologist may often recommend an assessment by an Educational Psychologist. In many cases the Western Australian Department of Education prefers Specific Learning Disorder assessments to be completed by an objective third party such as Focused Educational Psychology. If your child’s general practitioner, teacher or speech and language pathologist recommends testing for a learning difficulty or cognitive condition such as ADHD or Autism we can help.
What does an Educational Psychologist assess?
A good Educational Psychologist will assess your children’s strengths and abilities. Focused Education strongly believes in supporting families’ choices and decision-making. Actively monitoring your child’s progress through detailed testing is a smart decision.
Types of academic testing include:
- Psychological tests of intellectual ability (IQ assessment)
- Testing for Specific Learning Disorders (formerly known as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia).
- Assessment of Gifted and Talented Ability.
